Lord, We Depend on You
Rev Gordon Siu
"… fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." (Hebrews 12:2)
Our loving Heavenly Father, hear our prayer. Thanks be to You – You are our God, our salvation, our eternal hope.
Lord, we beseech You.
In a world where success and efficiency is the order of the day, we pray You will let us cherish respect for life. Let us not put functions and effectiveness above life itself. In the absence of accomplishment, let us still rejoice and be grateful about ourselves and the lives of others. Let us be at ease and not be burdened as we fulfill our responsibilities for our job and family. We are always happy, knowing that our names are already in Your book of the life.
Lord of heaven and earth, we adore You. You have triumphed over the world, and the world of the dead can never overpower You. Our rock, we implore You to watch over our faith so that we have inner calmness in times of turbulence, and that our faith will generate hope even at the dead-ends of life. When we despair over ourselves in sin, let us not forget that You are our help and we need only to rely on You.
Heavenly Father who gives us freedom, thank you for bestowing the truth, which sets us free. We pray that You have mercy on us and keep us from lust, pride and self-entanglements in this world, with all its snares and pitfalls. Lord, in busy life, it is hard to ignore job demands. But give us grace and watch over us. Do not let us deteriorate into work slaves, but let us maintain freedom in the Holy Spirit to obey You above the rest. Let our hearts remain vigilant and know how to live out the meaning of life in and outside our workplace. In daily lives, let us live out the radiance and freedom that life should display.
Mighty and loving Lord, You have promised us strength, love and a patient heart, therefore we pray for a heart of strength. We are fully aware of human frailty. We know we have all kinds of fear and anxiety deep in our hearts. Still, we look unto You. We know those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken, never be moved. We also know that in looking unto You in humility, we will find strength, and in trembling reverence, firmness. Lord, there are bruised reeds and smoldering wicks all around us. Let us not feel inferior or back down, but consolidate ourselves for their sake, and courageously offer assistance.
Lord, in the light of Your face, we are peaceful and calm, because You have been good to us. Loving Father, in You our hearts trust. You are our joy forever. Amen.
