Pastor's Sharing
Experiencing God's Love and Passing It On

Rev Sally Yung

When I shared at the meetings of several fellowships recently, I invited members to share their conversion stories in small groups of two to three. They joyfully shared how they came to Christ and marveled at the wondrous works and love of God! Most of them were led to Christ by their family, friends and relatives, colleagues and classmates, and a few by strangers. Relational and personal evangelism is truly important. When non-believers get to know us and build up trust, they will believe what we recommend is good. When they know we are Christians, they will be attracted by our good life testimonies. They will want to know the Lord Jesus, especially when they see how God has transformed our lives.

I know many brothers and sisters who, having experienced the great love and grace of God, are eager to share it with others so that they too can be reconciled to God. They therefore always seize the opportunities to preach the gospel to their beloved family, friends and relatives. They are especially mindful of those who are sick or aged, knowing that their time in this earthly life is limited. They do not want them to perish and go down the path of eternal destruction separated from God. Rather, they desire eternal life for them. As a matter of fact, who knows how long we can live on earth? We have heard of many sudden losses of lives due to accidents. We should therefore grasp every opportunity to spread the gospel to all people, whether children, youth, young adults, adults or the seniors. The earlier one believes in God, the earlier one can receive grace, have sins forgiven, be reconciled to God, be reborn with a new life, be free from the bondage of sin, and live in holiness.

I remember that a newly converted brother shared the gospel and his conversion testimony with his 100-year-old mother, and led her to Christ. He then taught his mother to pray for him, their family, friends and those who provide nursing care. He could then see a change in his mother, from being in a state of hopelessness and meaninglessness waiting for the end of life to a new person with vitality, hope and meaning. She even reconciled with the family! "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). I am very thankful to God for their family!

Jesus has said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you…." (Luke 10:2-3). Thank God for His gracious calling. You and I can take part in spreading His good news!

God's saving grace is the wonderful news that non-believers need to know the most. May we keep our passion to preach the gospel alive, and always pray for opportunities to get in touch with and share the truth with non-believers on our hearts. May we take the opportunities to share God’s love with them. May God give us wisdom by which we can come up with various ways and channels to share the gospel. Pray that the Holy Spirit will, during the process of sharing the gospel, guide and move our non-believer friends. Once we know about an evangelistic opportunity, we will need to invite brothers and sisters to join us in prayer and intercession, and to take part in the good work of God to sow, to harvest and to rejoice together!
