Pastor's Sharing

Testimonies from Small Groups Ministry

Rev Yina Chow

Did you know that in addition to our age-specific fellowship groups, North Point Alliance Church also provides pastoral care through intergenerational small groups? The Dynamic Groups Ministry welcomes brothers and sisters of all ages to join us. We offer four different series of small groups: Life Bible Study Groups, which focus primarily on studying the Bible; Shepherding and Discipleship Groups, which aim to respond to and put sermons into practice; Life Nurturing Groups, which feature diverse weekly meetings; and Mission Engagement Groups, which are guided by missional objectives. Our pastoral philosophy is "Shepherd one another; Attune to the Lord's heart" (Hebrews 10:24). At every newcomers' gathering, I always encourage new members to commit wholeheartedly to our small groups ministry using Philippians 1:5: "because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now." The Greek word for "partnership" is Koinonia, which carries three meanings: Fellowship, Partnership, and Participation. From the very beginning, the Dynamic Groups Ministry has recognized that our motivation comes from the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. His love compels us to walk together in unity and shepherd one another. We also become close partners, participating actively in the mission of sharing the gospel together. This sense of mission drives our spiritual growth, deepens our relationships with members in God's family, and broadens our vision for serving our neighbors, empowering us to share out God's love!

A brother involved in our outreach for the seniors shared that he initially joined just to help his wife move supplies. Yet after taking that small step, God let him experience the needs of seniors living alone, leading him to commit joyfully and willingly to this ministry. Another sister shared that she learned many important guidelines about serving as a volunteer, that, for instance, no one should serve alone. Instead, everyone should serve in unity with other brothers and sisters according to their spiritual gifts. She learned to humbly express love, faithfully fulfilling the Great Commission with respect and care. Most importantly, she realized that our mission must continue beyond our immediate service, extending into our daily lives as we continue to care for those in need!

At our "Mission Joy Run – Run for Mission" launch event, our Senior Pastor, Rev. Arnold Chow, encouraged us to adopt a marathon spirit to persistently rely on the Lord and continuously learn and grow through serving. We then picked "fruits" from a "Mission Tree" and tossed them forward, representing how our missional efforts bear fruit, radiating the Lord's light and blessings outward. We introduced over 200 participants to various mission-focused small groups within our ministry, encouraging them to join according to their spiritual gifts. These include the Cross-Mountain Group, which brings people to church through hiking; the Care for Seniors Outreach Group, which provides care and visitations for seniors; the "Walk with You" Group, serving unbelieving spouses; the Hosanna Group, which serves those struggling with addictions; the Pet-Lovers Outreach Group, which shares the gospel with pet owners; the Lord's Love Group, which shares the good news with people recovering from mental illnesses; the Homecare Support Group for Seniors, which assists seniors with homecare; the Workplace Witness Group, which witnesses to Christ in workplace settings (Central, Admiralty, and Wan Chai); and the Transformation Group, which supports those who have experienced divorce or widowhood. These small groups were established by brothers and sisters after they had received a gospel vision from God, and their testimonies have produced abundant fruit.

You, too, are invited to join our small groups to journey together and shine for the Lord!
