齊來關心少年人

偶然聽到有人對我說：「現今與少年人同行越來越艱難！」服事少年人確實有不少挑戰，但與少年人同行，不但可以看見他們成長，又能享受到與團隊一起服事的喜悅，這一切都是導師們的高興源頭。
青年人服事少年人：最近和一位青年導師傾談，他說最令他滿足的，是看到少年人有一顆柔軟的心。FWD 團契有一位組長，她性格內向，但卻因為順從神而願意擔任組長，她有一顆耶穌所說的溫柔的心（太五 5），常倚靠神又對人溫柔。服事中，她要克服帶領小組的壓力，雖然她每次都很盡力帶領，但團契後她總會說自己帶得不好，然而，她卻仍然願意繼續服事。有一次查經，這位組長分享了自己生命的軟弱，沒想到因而鼓勵了另一位不容易承認自己脆弱的團友坦誠說出自己做得不好的地方，在主裡的真摯分享，實在寶貴。這位導師說，神使用著這位組長，因她擁有一顆柔軟的心，該導師也被她激勵。
成年人服事少年人：6 月底，中五級的少年人到一位導師家中的會所玩保齡球和燒烤，大家盡興而歸。這級的導師們都是成年人，其中一位女導師分享說，她和少年人一起，感到自己也年輕了，但令她繼續服事少年人的原因，是因為有團隊一起服事，大家經過磨合和配搭，互相分享服事的苦與樂，一起為少年人的身量和靈命成長而感到喜悅。很感恩，這位導師的其中一名少年組員今年接受洗禮了。另一位男導師也異口同聲說，事奉了三年，看著少年人由最初「粒聲都唔出」，然後能夠慢慢打開心扉，坦誠分享家中的狀況和生命中的掙扎，並一起向主禱告，因而使他感到無比的喜悅。我們談話時剛巧有一位中五學生經過，他也感到自己有成長，與導師熟絡後，可以安心分享自己的心事。同時他也漸漸學會管理自己的情緒，之前他以為班中另一男同學有意取笑他，因此很容易被激怒，但後來他發覺原來那名同學向來習慣取笑別人，因此當他再遇上同樣情況，他可以不那麼受影響，繼續上課。
學生的成長和團隊的配搭，相信都是青年導師和成年導師的滿足和喜悅。每年 9 月，少年科都會招募組長來服事升中一的學生，無論你是青年人還是成年人，我都邀請你禱告，看看主會否感動你來一起關心少年人，在挑戰中見證少年人按著真理而行，體會事奉中最大的喜樂！
Once someone said to me, “It’s becoming more and more difficult to walk with teenagers these days!” Indeed, ministering to the youth comes with its fair share of challenges. Yet, journeying with them not only allows us to witness their growth. We can also serve as a team. All this is a source of joy for the counselors.
Young adults ministering to youth: I recently spoke with a young adult counselor. He shared that what brings him the greatest satisfaction is seeing youth with a tender heart. In FWD Fellowship, there is a group leader who is introverted by nature. However, she willingly took on the role out of obedience to God. She has the meekness that Jesus spoke of (Matthew 5:5). She always depends on God and treats others with gentleness. When she serves, she has to overcome the pressure of leading the group. Although she gives her best in leading every time, she often says that she does not do well. Still, she willingly continues to serve. During a Bible study, she shared about the weaknesses in her life. To her surprise, it encouraged another group member who did not easily admit his vulnerabilities to honestly speak about what he had not been doing well. Candid sharing in the Lord is truly precious. The young adult counselor said that God has been using this group leader because she has a tender heart. He has also been inspired by her.
Adults ministering to youth: At the end of June, a group of F.5 youth gathered for bowling and barbecue at a counselor’s clubhouse. Everyone had a wonderful time. The counselors of this particular level are all adults. One female counselor shared that spending time with the youth made her feel young again. What motivates her to continue serving them, however, is the teamwork. Through collaboration and mutual adjustment, they share both the joys and challenges of ministry. Together, they delight in the physical and spiritual growth of the youth. Thanks be to God that one youth member in her fellowship was baptized this year. Another male counselor echoed her sentiments. Having served for three years, he finds great joy in seeing a once-silent teenager slowly open up, eventually being able to share openly about his family life and personal struggles, and even praying to the Lord together with them. As we were talking, a Form 5 student happened to pass by and shared that he, too, felt he had grown. After becoming more familiar with his counselors, he felt secure enough to confide in them. He also learned to better manage his emotions. Previously, he would easily get irritated because he thought another boy in class intentionally mocked him. Later, he realized that this classmate simply had a habit of teasing others. Now, when faced with similar situations, he is less affected and can continue to concentrate in class.
The growth of the youth and the teamwork are, I believe, sources of fulfillment and joy for both young and adult counselors. Every September, the Youth Ministry recruits new leaders to serve incoming F.1 students. Whether you are a young adult or an adult, I invite you to pray and ask whether the Lord may be calling you to join in caring for the youth, to witness how they act according to the truth in the midst of challenges and experience the greatest joy in serving!
