Pastor's Sharing

Praising God’s Grace Together!

Rev. Sally Yung

“'What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived'—the things God has prepared for those who love him—...” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

The grace experienced by many cancer patients and their caregivers is beyond counting:
· A sister who underwent cancer treatment was informed by her doctor that her chances of pregnancy afterward would be very slim. Yet, God enabled her to conceive and give birth. Both husband and wife serve together in NPAC’s cancer care prayer meetings. Her husband responded to God’s call to become a hospital chaplain and has been serving faithfully for years. Their son has also responded to God’s call and is preparing to receive theological training!
· A brother nearly lost his life several times due to cancer. Grateful for the Heavenly Father’s deliverance and the care and prayers of family and fellowship members, he treasures every opportunity to share God’s lovingkindness and deeds, as well as caregiving insights, with other cancer patients and caregivers. He lives with greater joy than before his illness!
· A woman was diagnosed with cancer, and a pastor shared the gospel with her, her daughter, and her son-in-law. All three accepted Christ and were baptized. After she rested in the Lord, her husband also came to faith, completed the nurturing and baptismal classes, and was baptized. Her daughter and son-in-law actively serve in cancer care ministry, and her son-in-law has even been called to pastoral ministry!
· A successful businessman was diagnosed with cancer and he experienced the truth: “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36). Within a few years, he, his wife, and their three adult daughters accepted Christ, were nurtured, baptized, and received the most precious grace in life as a family!
·
A sister’s elder sister, who was a Catholic, was diagnosed with cancer. She closely cared for her sister and frequently prayed with her. Her fellowship and church also prayed for her sister. Eventually, her sister understood the true meaning of salvation, repented, and received special baptism from a reverend. After her sister rested in the Lord, she responded to God’s call and began theological training!
·
After being healed of cancer, a sister regularly bears witness to the Lord locally and overseas with a joyful and grateful heart together with her husband despite her physical weaknesses. The couple’s life testimony influenced her younger sister and brother-in-law’s decision to accept Christ and be nurtured. They joyfully witnessed their baptism!
·
Jesus reminded a man healed by Him that his illness was caused by sin: “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you” (John 5:14). A brother visited a sister diagnosed with cancer. He gently reminded her to confess and repent of any sins before God. The sister realized that the fruitfulness of many of her ministries had led her to become proud of herself. She confessed and repented before God. Praise the Lord for forgiving her sins and for healing her of severe cancer! She was grateful to the brother for his reminder.
Whether illnesses result from sin or not, no sickness can separate us from God’s love or hinder Him from giving us His grace and blessing and leading man onto His blessed path. God is compassionate and mighty, able not only to save but also to make rivers in the desert! Brothers and sisters, in difficult times, do not doubt that God has abandoned you, and do not turn away from Him. Trust that He cares for you. Continue to prayer with brothers and sisters steadfastly and wait upon the gracious Lord.
